Drogba on in Portugal-Ivory Coast match

PORT ELIZABETH, South Africa (AP)—Striker Didier Drogba, playing with a broken right arm, came on for Ivory Coast in the 66th minute of the team’s World Cup match against Portugal that remained scoreless after 75 minutes.

To the loudest ovation of the afternoon and with light rain falling Tuesday at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Drogba came on for Salomon Kalou in an effort to break the scoreless drought. Drogba was playing with a soft cast approved by FIFA earlier in the day.

In a game featuring plenty of attacking ambition and tough tackling from both teams, Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo rattled a 30-meter strike off the left post in the 11th minute to nearly put his team ahead.
